Join us at Your Creation Station on Friday, September 8, 2017 starting 7 PM for a canvas painting fundraiser benefiting Middletown’s Warriors Helping Warriors program. The Warriors Helping Warriors program runs the Brian Conley Veterans Resiliency Center on Broad Street.
Warriors Helping Warriors was started by Tina Conley and her husband, Kevin, in December of 2013. After Kevin returned home from Afghanistan injured, he and his wife Tina, became increasingly frustrated trying to work through the VA and Army health and retirement systems trying to get the support they needed. After speaking with other veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan they discovered similar difficult experiences dealing with the established system and the lack of support resources for spouses, caregivers and children of injured service members. Taking matters into their own hands, Kevin and Tina, with the help of Kevin’s parents, established the Warriors Helping Warriors organization and began working to “create a Delaware where those who fought for their country can find the resources and support back home that they deserve.” The organization now provides emotional support counseling, a family support network, home repairs, veteran’s benefit and healthcare assistance and veteran/family bonding events.
For the fundraiser, we’ll be painting the ‘July Sunset’ design on a 16″ x 20″ canvas. Expect to spend an unrushed 2 to 3 hours painting your canvas. Please see our post on canvas painting at Your Creation Station for more information about what to expect at our paint nights and our studio in general.
We’re on TV! Don’t forget to watch the October 21, 2016 edition of “First” news magazine on WHYY at 5:30 PM and 11 PM. Be sure to look for yourself if you were there when they filmed.
