There are a lot of really cool things about making pottery but being able to carry it with you and do it anywhere, at anytime, isn’t one of them. With knitting…its a different story, just ask Tracy Weidman, she’s got her needles working all the time. In addition to selling her signature line of infinity scarves at a number of locations in Philadelphia and at Your Creation Station turns out she’s also a pretty good knitting instructor. Her third workshop, Introduction to Circular Knitting, will be held this Sunday, February 13 @ 2:30 PM here at Your Creation Station.
If you haven’t met Tracy yet, she describes herself as a “life long mixed media artist and hard-working single mom of a vivacious yarn-loving 4-year old daughter.” She’s been knitting and selling her work as Punk Rock Knits for almost 5 years and no plans of stopping. In fact, I think she’s planning a yarn shop for some time in the future. In the meantime, she shows her work at regional and local craft shows and has developed quite a list of stores that carry her work.
The classes she has had so far have met with great success and this one promises more of the same. For Sunday’s class, students can expect to learn how to knit in the round, a useful skill for making hats, circular scarfs, cowls and other things. This will be a two-part class at a cost of $40. The class fee includes everything you’ll need. If I am able to pull it off this time, I’ll try to join in myself. Hats are great things for bald heads.
